After six years Ixb4ve ended this weblog and started a new one here. All new updates will be published at the new place.

Update April 1st 2011

If everything goes as planned, this is the very last time I publish the updates to my site on this weblog. No, it's not a joke. It wouldn't be much of a joke anyway, would it? Right now I'm creating a new weblog elsewhere, because I'm getting tired of the difficulties with this one. Getting the font type and size right, getting the pictures in the right spot, not too mention the hassle to get to the page where I can type my newest message. Last problem; the weblog will be migrating soon and lose all its pictures. It will still be available for some time, though, probably through a link called older updates or something like that.

So, what's new this time? Two new pages, one about architect L.J.P. Kooken and one about the wonderful church of St. Trudo in Eindhoven. The page about that city has, once again, a few pictures replacing some older ones.

Update March 20th 2011

Diessenwillibrordus022The third update this month already. And we're still in the Noord-Brabant province, with two new churches: the Gothic St. Willibrord in Diessen (picture left) and the much more modern O.L.V. Hemelvaart in Raamsdonksveer. Also new is a brand new page about the important pioneer of neo-Gothic H.J. van Tulder.

Update March 10th 2011

Woudrichemherv004 A few more changes in the Noord-Brabant section. The old page about the village of Oirschot is now about the municipality with that name. One of the interesting churches in that municipality is the old church of Middelbeers, about which a new page was added. New is also a page about Woudrichem municipality, as well as one about the fabulous reformed church (see picture) in the town of that name.

Update March 4th 2011

Bladelpetrus021

Now the migration is complete, except for the occasional link that needs fixing, I have finally found the time for some real updates. Especially for those provinces that reached their limit on Tripod I have a lot of pages waiting completion. So now that I'm no longer troubled by storage limits, why not add a new one to the Noord-Brabant section? Well, here it is, a brand new long overdue page about the St. Petrus' Banden in Bladel (see picture). In the same section is the much improved page about the city of Eindhoven, with 11 new pictures, 9 of which are of churches not mentioned there before.

Update February 18th 2011

It's completed! Every section and every page and picture is now finally hosted on a single server and a part of the archimon.nl domain, except of course for external extras like the Google maps, the Diigo links and this weblog of course. What's more, all links were checked and should be working properly. However, the links in the older messages on this weblog still refer to the old locations and in most cases won't work anymore. Sorry abou that, but I found that making referral pages would take too much time, especially considering the fact that Google has found the new locations for most pages already.

In the course of the proces, new pages were added about a few more municipalities: the Sxfadwest Fryslxe2n municipality was added to the Friesland and new in the Utrecht section are pages about the De Ronde Vennen and the Stichtse Vecht municipalities. Also the older page about the city of  Leiden was improved, as well as several others that I don't remember right now.

Update January 28th 2011

Stgeertruidgertrudis35 That went a lot easier than I thought. After Zuid-Holland and Noord-Brabant, the sections about Gelderland, Limburg and Overijssel have been relocated to the new server and are now all part of the archimon.nl domain. Moving of the Utrecht province section is next. I have a whole gigabyte to fill and expect to have enough space for several more years, the sum of all parts of the website currently covering less than half of that amount. In the meantime I took the opportunity to change the front page a bit: there's a search box now and a link to my Diigo.com page with links to interesting websites about subjects related to church architecture in the Netherlands. Most of these websites are in Dutch, sorry for that. Oh yes, Ieven added a few new pages to the Limburg section. The x93oldx94 page about the village of Eijsden is now replaced by a new one about the recently formed Eijsden-Margraten municipality. Among the many churches in this municipality are the St. Gertrudis in Sint Geertruid (picture) and the H. Bartholomeus in Eckelrade.

Update January 8th 2011

A happy new year to all of you. Yes, the first updates of the year are already here. The Zuid-Holland section has new pages about the reformed churches of Bleskensgraaf and Streefkerk, the O.L. Vrouwe van Goede Raad in Honselersdijk and the reformed church or Maria Magdalenakerk in Maasland.  In the same section is a small page about the Midden-Delfland municipality.

Also new is a page about architect C.H. de Bever. There used to be a page about him until some 8 years ago, when I removed it because it was quite bad. The new version is much better.

While adding the files for the new pages in the Zuid-Holland section I ran out of space, just like I already did with Noord-Brabant and Gelderland and probably soon would have with Limburg. Therefore, like I predicted in my previous message, I decided to gradually move all pages hosted by Tripod to a new server, with these sections coming first. Transfer of the Zuid-Holland and Noord-Brabant sections is now complete. Eventually I hope to bring all sections within the archimon.nl domain, which has the extra benefit that there will be no more adds. Of course this means I need to change links all over the website and make hundreds of redirects. I'd also need to update counters and GoogleMaps and perhaps even this weblog. To make things a lot easier, I'm considering to get rid of most of the counters eventually.

There's a lot of work that needs to be done, and until it's finished there will be no new pages.

Update December 27th 2010

Oldebroekherv42 The last update of this year brings you some new pages in the Gelderland section. To supplement last week's new page about J.G.A. van Dongen are pages about two his churches in Apeldoorn, the HH. Fabianus en Sebastianus and the St. Theresa. And following the page about G.van Hoogevest is the page about the reformed church in Zetten. The other pages are about the municipality of Oldebroek, the reformed church in the village (see picture) of that name and the reformed Grote Kerk or St. Nicolaas in the town of Elburg, complete with a page of interior pictures. And with these, I've nearly reached the limit of this section, just like I did with Noord-Brabant earlier this year. I will really have to find an alternative hosting service soon, free or not, because I'm not nearly finished with these two provinces. Next year will probably bring us another big moving operation. But that's for later. Now, I will as usual end this year, if I recall correctly, Archimon's tenth, with the numbers: a total of 81 pages was added, 33 of which are about specific towns or municipalities, 42 about churches and 6 about architects, 4 of which are protestants, bringing a bit more balance, albeit temporarily because the next few architects will be catholics. Finally, 13 older pages have been radically improved. In all, at least numerically speaking, 2010 was a much better year than 2009. There are still a few blank spots on my map, some of which I hope to fill next year, if time and space allow it. Hope to see you all then!

Update December 22nd 2010

Two more architects were added in the past few days; one about catholic architect J. van Dongen jr. and one about the protestant G. van Hoogevest. That's two important architects without an article on Wikipedia. Joris, are you reading this? Also, a much improved page about the city of Den Haag, or The Hague. In fact, the page has grown so much I had to cut it in two. Some of the "new" pictures are quite old actually and were made with the Sony Mavica I had almost ten years ago, but I finally decided to use them anyway, for completion's sake.
